What is Tungsten?

Part 1: Creating the Tungsten Ring Core

Tungsten is a dense, incredibly hard metal - much harder than gold, silver, or titanium. Because of this, it canโ€™t be shaped like traditional metals. Instead, it goes through a unique manufacturing process.

  • Part 1: Creating the Tungsten Ring Core

Tungsten begins as a raw ore that is refined into a fine tungsten powder.

This powder is then combined with carbon to form tungsten carbide, the material used in tungsten rings.

Tungsten carbide gives rings their:
  • Exceptional hardness
  • Scratch resistance
  • Weight and premium feel

  • Step 2: Pressing & Molding

The tungsten carbide powder is placed into a ring-shaped mold and compressed under extreme pressure.

This creates a solid ring form - but it remains fragile at this stage. 

  • Step 3: Sintering (High Heat Strengthening)

The compressed ring is heated in a furnace at extremely high temperatures in a process called sintering.
During this stage:
  • The particles fuse together
  • The ring becomes incredibly dense and strong
  • The material reaches its final hardened state
This is what gives tungsten rings their legendary toughness.

Part 2: Shaping, Finishing & Colour

Precision shaping, refined finishing, and advanced IP plating transform the ring into its final form.

  • Step 4: Shaping & Precision Grinding

Because tungsten is so hard, it cannot be easily reshaped or resized.
Instead, specialized tools are used to:
  • Shape the ring profile (flat, domed, beveled)
  • Create comfort-fit interiors
  • Refine edges and proportions
This ensures a precise and comfortable fit.

  • Step 5: Polishing & Finishing

The ring is polished using diamond-based tools to achieve different finishes:
  • High polish - mirror-like shine
  • Brushed finish - matte, modern texture
  • Combination finishes - contrast between matte and polished surfaces
This is where the ring takes on its final look.

  • Step 6: IP Plating (Colour Application)

Tungsten is naturally silver-grey. To create colours like black, gold, or blue, we use IP (Ion Plating) - an advanced form of PVD coating.
During this process:
  • The ring is placed in a vacuum chamber
  • Metal particles are vaporized and ionized
  • These particles bond to the surface at a molecular level
The result is a durable, long-lasting colour finish that wonโ€™t peel or flake.

Every ring undergoes strict quality checks to ensure:
  • Smooth edges and comfort fit
  • Even coating and consistent color
